Alfonso's Pastry Shoppe

“I purchased chocolate-covered strawberries from Alfonso's the other day. On display, there were dark chocolate strawberries on one side and milk chocolate lined up next to it. I specifically asked the woman assisting me for four milk chocolate-covered strawberries. She initially placed them in a plastic bag, and I had to ask her to put them in a box instead. Later that day, when I served them to my guests and we opened the box, I was extremely disappointed to see that I had received three dark chocolate strawberries and only one milk chocolate -- despite clearly requesting all milk. Mistakes happen, so I called the bakery to explain the situation. After letting an associate know what happened, I was put on hold for 10 minutes, until a manager got on the phone with an incredibly rude and unprofessional attitude right off the bat. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she insisted that all of their strawberries are made the same and that some just "taste darker than others." That explanation made no sense, especially considering their display clearly separates milk and dark chocolate (you can see the difference in the photo attached). What was most disappointing wasn't even the mix-up -- it was the terrible customer service. The manager I spoke to was dismissive, unhelpful, and unpleasant from the start. Errors can be forgiven, but poor customer service and a nasty attitude are much harder to overlook. Aside from this specific situation, their desserts are not what they used to be at all. Quality and taste has gone extremely down hill. Unfortunately, I won't be returning or supporting a business that treats its customers this way regardless. Way better places on the island.”

“My father bought me a cannoli and chocolate pudding birthday cake, lemon cookies and rainbows. The cake filling was only filled slightly in the middle and the rest was all whipped cream, the lemon cookies were rock hard, 7 layers tasted like someone accidentally dropped a tub of salt in the dough. Will never return. Don't waste your calories or money!”
