βWe really enjoyed the atmosphere here! The restaurant is located inside 1 Hotel, and the decor is super nice. Plus, the views of the NYC skyline are nice. The food was delicious, with generous portions. We ordered the focaccia as a starter, but my only critique is that they brought it out with the main courses instead of before. We didn't really get to enjoy it as an appetizer, which was a bummer. That said, the portions are a great size. Chiken & Mahi Mahi (dorado) super recommended.β

βThis was our first visit to Barbuto in Brooklyn. Everything was perfect. Vibe is great: beautiful, elegant and casual at the same time, a nice mix of locals coming in for a pizza, and maybe some folks who had traveled there staying at hotel, and people who may have been there for a celebration (us!). Josh took care of our table and did not miss a beat, and the rest of the team seamlessly made things appear(and disappear as needed) from our table. Everything from being greeted upon arrival until we walked out into the chilly night was lovely. We were there to celebrate the 95th birthday of my partner's mother who had recently moved from Manhattan to (assisted living in) Brooklyn Heights. We did not know that Barbuto had a Brooklyn location until we searched for places not far from her new home; we've always loved Barbuto in Manhattan, so we knew we could trust this for our celebration and it was even better than expected. We had: champagne toast; focaccia and breadsticks; burrata and proscuitto; polpettone (meatballs); pasta bambini; pasta with wild boar ragu x2; chocolate budino x2; red wine by the glass (both Italian, wonderful -- Josh checked with the sommelier about which glass of red I should have with my dinner, which, coincidentally, was also wonderful with my chocolate dessert, I was happy I had a couple of sips left). All of the food was divine. When the meatballs arrived, the fragrance of basil was so welcoming on freezing cold night. (I shared this as an appetizer with my partner, but I honestly could've had this as my main course!). The three of us loved every bite of what each of us ordered. The chocolate budino arrived with a candle for my partner's mother, which lit up her face with a smile, and that smile got a lot wider after her first bite. I was glad that we also got a second budino for my partner and I to share, but there were other desserts that looked incredibly wonderful, everything from tiramisu to pistachio cake to a blood orange sorbet -- next time (there will be a next time!).β

βWe visited Barbuto for our company holiday dinner, which is close enough to Barclay's (for a Nets game afterwards). I walked in the door and felt like I got the vibe of the place immediately. That isn't always the case at places to eat, as sometimes a place doesn't really know its own vibe. Cool and chill, and every person I encountered on the short walk to the table was inviting and friendly. The menu is kind of funky and somewhat hard to read but full of grey options. We started with tuna, salad, focaccia bread and the carpaccio. We were 5 and this was plenty to share and whet the appetite. I had the sea bass, which was very good (on a bed of squash) but the chicken appeared to be the winner; just make sure you are hungry if you order the yard bird. It comes as a roasted half. The gnocchi was also ordered and was a similar large portion. Desserts were equally varied and sounded amazing although we did not order any. Our server knew the menu inside and out and could not have been more friendly and fun. Add all of this up and then check the view outside of the Freedom Tower, Brooklyn Bridge and lower Manhattan and you get a dynamite spot for a date or lively get together. If you end up having to wait for a table, no worries bc the lobby for the hotel that is opposite the entrance to the restaurant is a very cool space on it's own.β
