Dave's Hot Chicken
TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

βl've eaten here a few times and never had any problems. The restaurant is spacious and clean, with plenty of room to roam about and sit down to enjoy the food and art on the walls. The employees there are friendly and helpful. I usually order the sliders with medium heat, and they hit just right for me. My friend ordered the loaded fries, and while they are rather filling, they were not our favorite on the menu. The chicken did not appear to be properly cooked, and the cheese sauce tasted very salty, she ended up sick after eating it. Aside from that, I'd recommend eating here; just avoid the loaded fries.β

βDave's Hot Chicken in Fresh Meadows truly stands out for delivering serious flavor and consistency. The chicken is incredibly juicy with a light, crispy coating that doesn't feel heavy or greasy, and the spice levels are actually meaningful--you can go from a comfortable Mild to a real challenge if you want the heat. The Dave's House Sauce is on another level: creamy, tangy, just a little sweet, and it ties the whole meal together, especially when you dip both the chicken and the crinkle-cut fries in it. The sides are solid, the portions are satisfying, and everything comes out hot and fresh. And you absolutely cannot skip the Oreo milkshake--thick, cold, and packed with real Oreo chunks, it's the perfect cool-down move if you go heavy on the spice. For a fast-casual spot, the flavor execution here feels way above typical chain food. If you're in Fresh Meadows and craving real deal hot chicken, this is a spot worth going out of your way for.β

βGreat food before the movies I came to watch a movie at AMC Flushing Meadows and arrived a little early, so I stopped by Dave's Hot Chicken for a quick bite. The food was excellent--you can choose your spice level from none to very hot. I picked mild and really enjoyed it. The first time I visited, the place was packed, but this Sunday was calmer and still a great experience. I highly recommend Dave's Hot Chicken if you're looking for tasty food before or after a movie.β
